One of the guys in our lease hunts off .308 in Lafourche or Assumption parish also. Not sure how far North but he’s been saying how bad the water is.

Hunting over a thicket in my climber. Got my doe decoy out with some Code Blue on her. Had 2 does come through and saw her and didn’t like her very much so they rolled out. Hopefully she’ll bring in a shooter soon.

It’s pretty bad in some spots. Maybe 70% of the land us under a foot of water. Some parts of the trails can swallow a bike whole. We used to be high ground. Vacherie and st James clubs would be under and we’d still be in knee boots or even tennis shoes if you wanted. They logged in 09, I believe, and plugged up a lot of the drainage. My land circulates in itself and when the fields get full, they pump into the canal that runs down the middle and it overflows. Then they ran the bayou bridge parallel with our big pipeline and built the land up, now the north side of the pipeline (newest cutover)doesn’t drain. That part has stagnant water, dying trees, reduced deer activity, etc. There’s about 7 stands we haven’t seen in probably 5 years due to the water. Had a guy took that exact trail out one evening “just to see” on a souped up can am. Had to winch out 6 times and said the water was up to his racks almost the whole time. I saw shuck grass wrapped around his handlebars
We can’t pinpoint any specific area to help the drainage. Work in progress I guess.

Hunting all over and saw a big buck behind the house Saturday when I got in from hunting.
Set up a camera right then, and of course, got a big boy on camera this am on my little three acres.

Yes, I’m hunting from the carport.
Never thought I’d do this, but he’s a biggun.
