This. If the committee takes autobids from P5 conference champs, then UCF would have been left out at #5 because you would have ended up with:
1. Alabama (SEC Champ)
2. Clemson (ACC Champ)
3. Notre Dame (at large)
4. Oklahoma (Big 12 Champ)
5. Ohio State (Big 10 Champ)
6. Georgia (at large)
7. Michigan (at large)
8. Washington (Pac 12 Champ)
Because the committee voted undefeated UCF #8 and one of the P5 champs was ranked outside the top 8, UCF doesn't get in. The only way UCF gets in is if there is some kind of auto-bid for an undefeated G5 Conference Champ. Otherwise, they will just make sure that they rank them low enough to keep them out every single time.
