sedona is pretty cool. nearby attractions that we enjoyed:

walnut canyon national monument
petrified forest national park. be advised that you might be interrogated/searched to make sure that you haven't removed any petrified wood
tuzigoot nm. probably my favorite ruins that i have seen. also, cottonwood is a pretty cool town.
montezuma castle/well nm
wupatki / sunset crater nms
grand canyon north rim, it's at a higher elevation and is closed seasonally, so check before you just decide to go. it will be way less crowded than the south rim

i'm a bit of a park/monument junkie, so that's where i favor. if that's something your crew might be interested in, buy the $80 park pass that is good for almost all parks and monuments for a year.

i was not impressed with the food selection at oak creek brewery, but the beer is pretty good. there's a ton of shite to see and do in the sedona/flagstaff area.

even if you have no plans of doing anything north of sedona, you should make the drive to flagstaff on 89a, it's pretty incredible.

I considered this, but it looks like it's a good 5-6 hour drive from Sedona, and I couldn't find any lodging near there. Does that seem right? There's not really a direct path from what I could determine because there's a huge canyon you have to drive around. Inconsiderate canyon.
