Has this ever happened?

Despite the quirk in scheduling, has a team ever wrapped up a division title BEFORE facing one of the teams in said division?

No idea, but probably it has happened. Otherwise you’d have heard about it.

I’m sure the Pats have accomplished this at least once in their shitty division
But if you’re talking strictly NFC South then yeah 2015 CAR

If I’m understanding the question (which may not be possible since I been drinking) I would think for sure that has happened. Probably multiple times. Doesn’t seem to odd for a team that is undefeated in division games and is going into last one.
But in addition to that, I’m not sure how many times a team has claimed #1 seed in conference before playing all games in their division.
