SIAP but when Bird reports an unauthorized scooter has been taken and gives the gps coordinates for NBR to BRPD, it's not like the swat team is getting sent out to recover it.

I'm sure the POS Mayor of Dallas would cause a stink if these things were getting stolen, and the cops werent responding. But hey lets stay quiet when it takes DPD 1.5hrs to a murder/rape 911 call.

Yep. BRPD isn't going to do a damn thing, and I don't blame them. These will end up being a write-off for the companies.

San Diego they are great along the beach. "Lets Know Things" Podcast did an episode on these companies that was really interesting. Turns out the average life of the scooter is about 2 months being used in the public and they don't pay off the initial investment of purchasing the scooter until the 5th month on average. Terrible business model as of now but tons of investment money keeps pouring in. Ford planning to get in along with Tesla. Its a race to the bottom.
In San Francisco they kicked out Lime and Bird.

I've always wondered what the companies have invested into each scooter. They have to lose their arse on the average scooter seeing how most people treat them.

I saw an article recently that had a picture of thousands of dockless bikes and scooters in a government warehouse somewhere. It may have been Austin... It just amazes me anybody would invest in that.

In San Diego people were just throwing the bikes in the ocean.

Was the article about this situation in China? Some of those pics are insane!

Yep. A guy on my street does this. Drives around his trailer and picks them up every night after his 9-5 job. Charges them overnight and drops them off on his way to work each morning.

Makes several hundred bucks a week on it I think.

Think its something like $20 per scooter returned to their charging station

Memphis has the worst drivers along with a ton of people walking around and riding bikes in the streets at all hours of the night. These scooters would be like adding fuel to the fire.

I don't understand the fetishization of saying "the drivers in my city" are the worst.

I've been to a lot of places and drivers are invariably terrible everywhere.

Imagine driving along at 4am and some kid on a scooter comes out of no where.

That story is fishy
