Just spit balling here, might be a terrible idea but if you want to generate some interest in G5 what about this idea. If the CFP went to 8 and guaranteed a G5 spot, then cut the G5 schedule down to 11 games with no conference championship games. Separate poll for G5 teams and the Top 4 do their own playoff starting the last week of the P5 regular season. G5 "Championship Game" the weekend of the P5 Conference Championship Games and the winner of the G5 championship gets the G5 autobid into the CFP.
