Just finished RAVENSBRUK, HITLER"S DEATH CAMP FOR WOMEN. Most libraries have it. I've read a lot of books on WWII and the camps and this was the most detailed, graphic book I gave read.Written through the story telling of survivors and official Nazi documents, from the building of the camp till it was liberated by the Russians. If any felt the Nazi guards were just guards protecting the camp, the survivor's stories show them to be among the most evil people in the world. And as the Jews, for the most part, were murdered early on once they entered the camp, the victims were Poles, French, Hungarians, Germans, etc. To study ways to medically cure infections among the German wounded, prisoners' legs were cut open, thigh to calf, and the wounds filled with dirt, twigs, glass, shite, and then wrapped & left to fester. No cures ever came out of this practice or any other medical experiments. As an aside, Himmler had a mistress living nearby, in a mansion, and whenever he would visit her, he would always stop at the camp to study various experiments as well as the gas chambers doing their work.
