I think you have to consider other factors. I agree Orgeron isn’t leaving LSU. However, it’s now the status quo in college football. Majority of power 5 coaches get an extension with a successful year. By most accounts, based on preseason expectations, he had a very successful year.

The optics of not giving your coach an extension reflects on the school and the support and respect you have for your coach. This can have ramifications on recruiting and your ability to hire coaches in the future. LSU is building it’s reputation of supporting and rewarding their employee for a job well done. That reputation is known in the coaching community and by families who are involved in the program through recruiting.

See Avery Atkins’s dad’s post from a couple of days ago and you’ll understand the reputation they’re buiilding for people other than the casual fan.

Why dont people understand that preseason expectations were based on

1. Auburn being a top 10 team
2. Miami being a top 10 team
3. Piss poor coaching hires by Orgeron
4. ORGERON HIMSELF

So LSU went from 7-5 to 9-3 when 2 of the teams completely sucked.

We won exactly 1 game that we should not have otherwise won in the end and beat two absolutely overrated teams.

Thats not exactly a huge accomplishment warranting a raise.
