What is the board’s thoughts on this scenario?

A team owner is eliminated from playoffs but still has ability to pick up players. We allow this for several different reasons.

What if an owner that is eliminated begins to drop all his shite players (handcuffs and new injuries) and picks up viable FA’s simply to deter another team owner from winning the league?

Example, picking up 5 defenses bc a certain team owner is weak at def and had been steaming all year.

The teams that don’t make the playoffs play in a loser bracket for draft pick position and to award last place. Last place gets a “punishment”

Plus some owners make side bets with each other to continue the fun.

But these games are marginal at best and some teams don’t give a shite

If it's the regular season, I don't see how you can fault someone for continuing to play.

If there’s no consolation bracket for money then doing any of that is not cool.

Are we talking guys that are out of playoff contention but fighting to avoid the punishment? Then it’s fine

Teams picking up guys once the playoffs have started or are knocked out of the playoffs then not cool

This is not.

It should be common sense. They can improve their teams, but don’t frick with winners bracket teams

That’s the thing. There is a consolation bracket. But picking up 5 defenses to drop hurt players clearly shows you aren’t trying to win. Just block another owner.

Yeah that’s dick, could argue collusion if another owner asked him to do it. League should have a gentleman’s agreement in place for your situation as a whole

I guess I'm not following. Someone dropped hurt players to pick up defenses to block another manager that has been streaming. That correct? Sounds like a damn good strategy to me.

Let’s say you had AJ Green, Greg Olsen, Hunt and two handcuffs. You are now eliminated from playoffs. You then drop those 5 players and pick up 5 defenses.

Meanwhile the only weakness for a top team is defense. Technically you still have something to play for. But who really cares if it’s the 3rd or 4th overall pick next year? Could argue 4th is better.

Clearly 5 defense is not making your team better. It’s to prevent another owner from winning. Which you have no dog in the fight other than spite.

Is hording players to block another team kosher? Could you argue you don’t want that owner to win, so frick him? Is it his fault? Bad sportsmanship? Learning lesson?

Are the other managers in the consolation bracket streaming defenses? If there's a penalty I get it. I mean, it's not something I would do, but I can see dropping those players and there not being any position players available that will help you win at this point. Especially if it's still regular season, I've picked up player to block people before.

We do keepers and if someone is picked up as an unstated free agent then they cost a 12 rounder the following year. We have lots of late season non playoff pickups.
