I don't think just knowing someone makes it premeditated. Parents have accidentally shot and killed their own children thinking they are intruders. There have been stories of people going to the wrong house, etc. unintentionally.

So, her story isn't too far fetched. The fact she knew him is only a function of being neighborly.
But, I'd still charge her with whatever it is supposed to be to kill someone without really meaning to, but she must serve some serious time in the end, IMO.
