Think about how long it would take you to realize the apartment you're in looks nothing like yours, and acknowledge that she either pulled the trigger before that amount of time elapsed, or she killed him even after figuring it out.

I'm guessing he was shot after no more than 5-10 seconds, assuming she was sober.
