I’ll be the first to admit I’m surprised LSU finished the season 9-3. That said, finishing 3rd in the West is not the standard. Getting blown out at home is not the standard.

We fired a coach that averaged 10 wins per season to hire O and offered him a buyout that makes no sense.

We now have a coach that averages less wins per season, AND WE ARE GONNA GIVE HIM AN EXTENSION?

This is why we as fans should never expect to win the SEC, let alone be a playoff team, as long as this administration is in place.

Let him coach completely through his contract that HE F’N AGREED TO...and then discuss signing him again.

WGAF? If he fails, he’ll get fired - extension or not.

Impressive take you have there. I don't think it's ever been discussed here at all

The problem is he doesn’t need an extension. He’s got a few more years on his contract and it’s not like any other team is gonna try to hire him away. It’s just a nonsensical move by the administration, one of many

And if they don't give him an extension he wont go anywhere anyway.

Because, if rumors are true, the extension increases the buyout, which will make it much harder to fire him.

He won’t get paid what Miles was paid and we fired Miles. Nothing to see here, move along.

While I agree 9-3 is a pleasant surprise compared to preseason expectations, a lot also has to do with preseason notions that turned out to be false.

Miami and Auburn weren’t near the caliber opponents we expected. Those wins aren’t anything special looking back.

We went 2-3 in our 5 toughest games. We didn’t lose any games we had no business losing so I guess that’s nice?

The season isn’t a disaster but going 2-3 in your hardest games isn’t anything to write home about and give out an extension for. The Georgia win was one of the biggest in recent LSU history but on the flip side, the way we couldn’t even compete with Alabama at home is concerning to say the least.

Extensions are about recruiting.

He's 1-1 in bowl games.

Hardly extension worthy.

They were talking about this on one of the sports shows today. They were saying it has to do more with recruiting. Can’t recruit a player for 2020, if your contract ends in 2019. It’ is used against you by other schools.

IF YOU DON'T GIVE HIM AN EXTENSION FIVE YEARS BEFORE HIS CONTRACT IS UP OTHER TEAMS WILL USE IT TO NEGATIVE RECRUIT AGAINST LSU

Guess you haven’t followed CFB for long. If you want to attract recruits you have to show stability. Few want to sign with a coach that has a short term contract. This is absolutely nothing new.

If you send O out on the recruiting trail with only two years left on his deal it will be used against him and LSU. It will look like the school doesn't have his back.

Recruiting is irrelevant if you don’t have the ability to coach them better than your competitors.
