QB mishaps..

Imagine the success LSU could’ve had if Ryan Perrilloux wasn’t kicked off of the team. Then, Jarret Lee wouldn’t have been thrown in as a freshman and had the bad stigma that followed him throughout his career at LSU. IMO, this was the undoing of the QB position and hasn’t really recovered since.

That was over 10 years ago. Can't use it to justify failures on offense now.

It certainly was the first domino, but we gotta move on. LSU needs to pump that QBs drafted since 2000 graphic info the ground until the perception changes.

It did create a cascade effect. Miles was viewed as QB friendly prior to the pick six year. He then became afraid the throw the ball knowing he had a good defense and a good enough running game to win the vast majority of games. After just a few years of this, he became know as QB unfriendly and was unable to recruit a good QB because of the stigma, resulting in more years of ultra conservative offense. Mett seemed to help and he was able to recruit a top QB, Harris, who turned out to be a great kid, but not a good QB making it virtually impossible to recruit a top QB

Harris was a POS . He acted like he was going to hit me with his car after a game ,we just beat Ole miss.Jennings was starting at that time. I was happy walking back to the parking lot when this happened, lost a lot of respect for the kid that day. Had a girl in the car with him.

Cool story, bro

When so many highly regarded players don't pan out at the same position, it's the program not the players.

It definitely doesn’t justify the fact that the offense has been stagnant for the past 6 years or so. But, it played a major part in how Miles developed QBs from that point on. At that point we would’ve had a stable development of QBs for the years going forward instead of trying to find the “savior” we’ve all been in search of.

I agree with you, but kicking Perrilloux off the team affected the growth of that position at the time and had an impact on the development of those QBs in the program. It was a domino effect that left the Qb position in shambles for years while Miles was at helm, and affected the way Miles wanted to run offense. It lead Miles to be dependent on the run game, which was his undoing as HC.

Imagine if Charlie McClendon hadn't had Bert Jones split time with Paul Lyons.

You can pin the Lee/Jefferson saga on Perrilloux. Any QB failures after that is all on the coaches.

I like Mickey Joseph but he's just not getting it done with the WRs. I know they even gave him help this year (help which is about to retire) and I met Mickey personally several years ago- he's a good guy and can recruit his arse off- but our WRs aren't getting good production on the field considering their talent level.
So how much blame can I put on the QBs? Not much, right now. Burrow has been stellar especially the last two games... he only would have had three incompletions total for the Arky game, had the receivers caught everything that hit them in the hands. Three of his passes were errant. Three.
If we could get back to developing receivers like we did with Clayton, Bowe, OBJ, Byrd, Doucet and Landry, Burrow would be a god on the field.
