LSU did very well ...

9-3 on record, 2 losses on the season ...

The offense actually performed up to par (minus pass blocking) ..

Our run blocking seemed weaker against Rice and A&M ..

But the real thing that held us back was

NOT
-play calling
-bad players (although no 1-3 rounders)
-turnovers
-penalties

IT WAS the sacks... :-(

I haven't gone and done an analysis play by play ..

But from a distance... do you agree or disagree ..

That the offense was otherwise sufficient was it not for the sacks which killed drives...

I feel like practically every oh no play I saw on offense .. was nothing other than the sack ..

Agree or Disagree?

EDT: also dropped passes .. many aaah mans this year

Disagree. Especially if you have hopes of even competing with Bama. You need a philosophy that can overcome your weaknesses. We don’t have that.

sacks are sometimes a byproduct of a QB not throwing random interceptions to avoid a sack

They are also about leaving too many men in protection and eliminating your checkdown options. There is a reason that good teams don’t give up a lot of sacks and that is because they give their qbs multiple easy check downs on every play.

If you want to make it really simple, it comes down to:

OL
RBs not hitting the hole fast
Edge Contain against the run.
Lack of pressure from 3 man rush
No PR game

Better than I expected as I picked 7-5 in the preseason with losses to Miami, Florida, UGA, Bama, A&M.

Offense was terrible. OL was a weak spot because we have no true tackles. 78 was a huge disappointment in his senior campaign. Injury did not help. Expected JUCO tackle to play a lot and was nowhere near ready. RBs are average in comparison to what we’ve had.

Lack of pash rush by our DL was disturbing. Lawrence is a great player but can’t do it on his own.

McMahon did not disappoint as our special teams was not special. Saw it for years with the Saints and it showed here as well. Kicker was a huge pickup.

I concur .. but do feel where Brossette is good is patient with the holes... unique approach .. why Orgeron said he wasn’t great RB but real good at zone running

The pass protection issues caused more than sacks. In some games it took half the playbook off the table. Bama and Miss st and Florida rushes so well that we could not run much of anything.
