Tsetse wins. Great match. I could see both of these guys skip Rome, although it will be interesting to see if Rafa wants the reps and to get a tournament win under his belt.

Damn Rafa was -800 to win too ... crazy odds. The young kid is a freak! How many finals is that this season?

Here's an interesting fact for you. There has been only one year when Nadal didn't have a clay court Masters tournament under his belt leading up to the French Open. That was 2014 and he ended up suffering one of his worst clay court losses of his career to Djokovic at the French Open winning only nine games in three sets. I would say it's critical for him to win Rome and get back to form.

I’m sure he’ll play because of his pride and ego, but I’m of the belief that he could show up at RG without any match play on clay, shake off the rust early, and be completely dialed in by the 3rd or 4th round. That’s exactly what Roger did at AO 2017, and that was following surgery and a full 6 months out. And the conditions in Madrid don’t suit Rafa’s game like they do at RG, so this result may not be all that bad.

Although... this quote might be a tiny bit of a concern...

“I think that it's more normal what is happening right now, than what happened in the past 14 years,"
