Traffic matters when you live far from your work. I am lucky that I live in Smyrna and work from home unless I need to fly out and I rarely deal with traffic. My wife works at Home Depot HQ and gets too and from work in 15 mins.
Should be zero reason to have to move from the city because of traffic unless it’s impossible to have your spouse and yourself living near work. If you are single then there is zero reason to state traffic as a reason to leave.

I was in a unique situation. My wife worked(she now tele commutes from home) in Alpharetta. I commuted to the airport(fricking miserable) to fly for a regional airline based in Atlanta.

Mid to late 90’s Atlanta was awesome, especially before during and after Olympics. Back then Buckhead was safe and lots of fun. I think the Great Recession of 2008 hurt Atlanta’s growth and development.
Also, the metro population was more bearable back then (2.5 - 3 million) now it’s over 5 million. Too big compared to 20-25 years ago.
