I grew up in NOLA before technology took control of music. Back then, the best way to find music was college radio stations like WTUL. Way easier to find new bands today. Still, I like to chill and listen to the radio in the background. If you're in NOLA, Alt92.3 FM has a Sunday night show called The Roux. It's hosted by Chris Chaos and Carolyn. They highlight local music ranging from Brass Bands to Alternative Rock. My preference is the ALt Rock Bands. Alt 92.3 often sponsors local events at The Howlin Wolf, Southport, and The House of Blues where you can see these band live. I've heard some interesting local bands on this show like The Fixers, Akadia, Lotus In Stereo, Green Gasoline, The Absence Project, Royal Teeth... Check out Alt 92.3 The Roux on Sunday night. The show is from 8-10pm,

I just find music today to be kinda boring and it lacks direction
Kayne west and all that rap stuff is just awful...
This is the speech an old person who has become petrified wood. Every generation has them.

Boring
Boring?
Define boring. Modern prog rock is as good as it has ever been and legitimately the opposite of boring with bands like Haken, Steven Wilson, Caligula’s Horse, Frost*, and many more.
If you want interesting music that challenges the listener’s ear... man there is a wealth out there right now

I watch the Stereogum Album of the Week article. They also name other notable alums coming out that week with little blurbs on each. Then I go read the comment section for the article, and there’s almost always some album or band that quite a few posters agree should have been in consideration.
I’ll give a few of those that sound interesting a listen. Some of them I like, some I don’t.

Lately this has been me.
Along with what was said already.
Satellite radio is slacking in some generes MAJORLY. Like a Stoner metal station!

Yeah, Spotify is great. Also I use YouTube, there are a lot of different songs on recommendations

I have had good success going to Amazon, putting in a band that I really like, and then check out the selections they say, if you like this band you may like this. I listen to mostly classic/southern rock, and that's how I found BlackBerry Smoke, Whiskey Myers, JJ Grey and a bunch of other artists I never would have normally known about.

Sirius XM Octane is where I find most of my new hard rock music. They introduced me to Highly Suspect, Amity Affliction, Nothing More, Ghost etc...even some decent singles of bands I'm not that fond of that have a fun song from time to time.
