I appreciate the crusade, but LSU's inconsistency over the last 20+ years has led to this. Brady would win the SECW, then bottom out the next year. Hell, he went to the Final Four in 2006 then finished 6th in the SECW the next year.
Outside of his first year, Johnson's teams were boring and bad. Jones brought some excitement (crowds showed up particularly in the Simmons year) but it seemed like time and time again just when LSU was building momentum they would get a huge crowd and promptly lose the game to kill the momentum.
That happened to Wade with the Bama game last year. Lose a hard fought game vs. UK. Unexpectedly win 2 straight road games after than. Get a huge crowd vs. Bama...and lose. Momentum shot.
LSU hasn't made back to back NCAAT appearances in over 10 years. Like it or not, casual fans will only show up to watch winners. Also, while basketball die-hards know this OOC schedule doesn't look too bad, the casual fan doesn't get excited for games against SLU, La Tech, or some directional school from North Carolina they've never heard of. Even Memphis had been out of the lime light since Calipari left 10 years ago. Plus, 6:00 pm games on a Tuesday night aren't prime time to bring in good crowds.
Football is always going to be the main attention getter in this town. That's particularly true in November. Once December rolls around, most of the students have left for a month. But the reality is that if/when LSU becomes a consistent winner, the crowds will show back up en masse. No one gave a shite about LSU basketball in the mid 70's. Likewise, very few people even knew LSU had a baseball program in the early 80's. Once those two starting winning on a national level, the crowds started to show.

Once again, lame excuse. What happened the last 20 years means nothing for this year’s team. By your logic, let’s punish Will Wade for the sins of Brady, Trent and Johnny. #Weak

So basically you are saying that the LSU fanbase is a non-loyal bandwagon for winners only fanbase? Amirite?
