Didn't some insiders say some of our QBs would look great in practice and then have no idea what happened during Gameday. I don't mean the last season season or so, but prior to Harris transferring.. During the Jefferson, Jennings, Harris era?

I have heard it mentioned in the past, but for les to hint at it years later when hired at another school has to confirm to some degree

I’ll drop some knowledge on you to help explain straight from Tolliver’s mouth:

Jefferson could only learn around 4-8 plays (which coordinators did their best to disguise with formations). That’s it. He couldn’t figure out the offense. So Miles simplified it for him and Jefferson only had to memorize a handful. To onlookers he would look great in practice because we were only running those plays.

During the games, that obviously didn’t work because, in the real world opposing coaches adjusted. Jefferson would get lost and it would become a trainwreck.

That’s why I said from the get go in 2011, once Jefferson was allowed back on the team, we wouldn’t win a title. Our offense became worse and worse over the season and opposing teams figured it out.

But Jefferson looked great in practice.
