I dind't like it either. It's been replaced in the USMC by the IAR (basically an HK416 with a longer and heavier barrel). Unfortunately, the IAR isn't beltfed and they're stuck using 30 rounders.

I thought Magpul was having their 60 round drums tested for the M27

From what I remember, and it’s been 5 years since I was in an infantry BN in the USMC, they are keeping both the SAW and IAR. Mission will determine which mix of weapons to bring.
