I geeked out when Pablo showed up.

Just finished the season. Worst one yet, but it had a high bar to live up to.
Like season 2, this one was sloooooow. Seasons 1 and 3 are easily the best. The middle episodes picked up for a while, but it didn't sustain.
This season also lacked the great characters that the other seasons had. Don Neto was by far the strongest character, and there wasn't much else. The real Kiki was an ex-Marine, a badass, and the chubby softy who played him here didn't fit the part.
It also failed to tap into the charming part of Mexican culture the way it did in Colombia.
I hope Season 5 picks up the pace to resurrect the series, because this season was all built on creating the next one.
I still don't know who was narrating the damned thing.

I thought it was the DEA agent at the end who smuggled all the weapons across the border...setting up Season 2 of Mexico.

Really? I thought it was pretty obvious that it is the same narrator for the other seasons. It’s the same exact voice,Steve Murphy the DEA agent.
ETA: I just googled...and I’m wrong. It’s another person. Another DEA agent that will be introduced next season. Must be one of the white men they show the last few minutes of the final episode.

Yeah this narrator was much worse than the original. Only negative I have on the season

Finished the season last night.
I've known the details about the Kiki tragedy for a while, was weird seeing it all play out on a tv show like this.
I enjoyed this season, but it was bittersweet for sure.

Y’all fools really don’t know who Scoot McNairy is?!?! He’s a baller. We were introduced to his character at the end of the final episode. He should be the main guy moving forward in season 2, which is great news because he’s legit af.

You have to admit it does sound like the actor that played Steve Murphy

it felt like someone attempting to sound like him. Felt the voiceover was a little try hard, mostly because a lot of what he would say isnt really tht shocking after seeing S1-S3.
This show is very much a prequel series to the point where i would tell new watchers to watch this one first before watching the other seasons to have the best effect for storytelling purposes

Anyone know what's in that little pipe that Don Neto starts smoking at the end?
*Neto is definitely my favorite

It’s just a little weed bubbler

Okay, 14 downvotes so far, but little discussion.
Let me say this... I still go back and watch episodes from seasons 1 and 3 because they were so good. There's not a single episode of Season 4 I want to re-watch.
If you disagree, I'd at least like to hear why. I enjoy the production, and talking about it would be fun.

I'd go back and watch episode 5 just to see the guys from the first three seasons again
Not sure if that helps or hurts your point

I think it helps my point. The characters in that episode, like Pablo and the Cali guys, revived an emotional response with their presence alone. Other than Don Neto, there's not one character from Season 4 I'd say does that.

What do you think elevated it over the other seasons?

I think they are equally good. Pablo's story was known mainstream already so they didn't have to dig into the back story as much as Mexico which caused the pacing to be a little slower. Season 2 should be the true test.

Just finished and I thought it was great. Don Neto was like the cool uncle and I don’t know why I was pulling for Rafa but like rick James said cocaine is a hell of a drug. I felt bad for kiki’s wife going through all that and his kids. The way the show ended jam pumped and I can’t wait to see the Americans kick some Mexican arse in the next season.

I would rank them 3, 1, 4, 2.
They haven’t had a bad season yet. 2 just dragged on Pablo a tad too long, 3 really thrived with the lack of Pablo and allowed a ton of new characters time to shine.
Next season should be awesome, balls to the walls american kick arse shite that eventually leads to El Chapo taking over

Why did they bleep out the names of the Mexican officials when they were interrogating Kiki about what he knew about the cartel. I didn’t understand that.
