I believe they were being intentionally inflammatory and were using the salute to troll liberals/minorities because of the connations associated with it.
Not exactly a malicious "crime" (or a crime at all

It's a little absurd tbh. Flipping people off or making ok obscene sexual gestures wouldn't have made even the tiniest wave though. It takes a real idiot to participate in something like this on camera
