Your post points out one of Saban’s strongest talents, evaluating players talent and adjusting his O and D to maximize those talents. He never tries to force players into a system that does not fit their talents, he will change his O and D as need be so they will fit. That has been one of the biggest criticism’s of Malzahn at AU, it is perceived he tries to force his players into his system, and many times it does not work. The proverbial square peg in a round hole. I wonder if this could be Ensminger’s problem?

yup.

And Malzahn being a 'system' guy can't evolve very smoothly. Having an 'identity' or 'system' is overrated. You just need one that year, as defined by your personnel.

If Hurts was back there it would not be the same 'system' that we see with Tua.

Saban is all about efficiency. And maximizing the skills on the field is a big part of that... to do that you have to put them in a role that matches.

ETA:
And this discussion has gotten me thinking about names and coaches and who's good and who's not.

Dan Enos is coaching Tua. The same 'failure' of an OC for Fat Bert. Just a word of caution regarding 'hot names', track records, and most importantly putting it all in context. Yes, E's current productivity is severely affected by the OL, and I say WRs not getting open too. The question we need to ask, ourselves, what's the ceiling and what's the floor and can we put the people and players in place to reach that ceiling.
