and i'm not clamoring for SE's head. I think he is doing a good job with what he's got to work with.

but if we do, we need to get the right fit for our school. and, get him more tools to work with, which is happening
I said earlier in the year if E isn't going to get it done- demote him. I don't want him fired, midseason or at the end. He's not a bad coach by any means and is a key recruiter. In fact he's underrated as a recruiter.

That being said, he was improving. I was seeing positive moves in both playcalls and execution. Yes, the OL is limiting and his reluctance to 'plan around that' with his 'system' is, and was, disappointing.

But that improvement seemed to halt this weekend. You can nitpick the playcalls, but the 'philosophy' behind them was regressive. We retreated into a shell somewhat. Less RPO (with nary a single pass out of it), less motion, etc.

We did run alot of 4 WR sets, but very little of those were rubs and outlet routes. The progression ran sideline to sideline and didn't have much depth (best I can tell). So what that means is we weren't planning on 'throw to spot' routes (sometimes used as outlets).

That was my biggest fear pre-season regarding E, he would retreat into a shell for big games. This is not the first time this year. I'm going to say my fear has been realized.
