I get where he's coming from with that line of thought. I believe it'd end disastrously, though, because I have no confidence that the left wouldn't shite all over that olive branch and do the exact same thing the next time the opportunity arose.

That's probably both revelatory of my fundamental distrust for the modern left, and highlighting the fundamental impasse in the current discourse that may be beyond repair.
