Walkaway is a complete Russian campaign.
Even if that’s true, does it diminish the voices of the democrats who have walked away for you?

Let’s say the first 5000 #walkaway twitter posts were all faked by russia or the gop or whomever. In yiur mind, does this hypothetical origin then diminish the decision of former democrats who empathized with it and decided they should, in fact, walk away?

#walkaway is a purely rhetorical argument, and if we are at the point where we are overarchingly dismissing rhetorical argument solely because we don’t like the people making them, then our political system might be in some trouble.

I know several hundred is small by rally standards, but you gotta remember this is DC. Takes some courage to participate in an anti-dem march there. And I know this is a small sample size too, but I’ve got a former dem friend who has latched onto the walkaway narrative fully. When you tell him that he’s only walking away because he was tricked by russians, and not because he seems systematic failure by a political group he use to believe in, it only entrenches him further in believing he made the right decision.

Just a word of advice for the future. When you are discussing political movements in a country with a foundational belief in the value if free speech, you need to dispute what is being said, rather than attack who is saying it. Debate the ideas, not the people. It doesn’t matter whether the walkaway hashtag started in some russian basement, it is resonating deeply with some american voters. Now’s the time to figure out why.

Outstanding!

The fact that other nations (or simply people from other nations) are uniquely interested in U.S. politics and have involved themselves in various ways is absolutely nothing new.

It’s a fair criticism to point it out, but there is a range of behaviors that are more or less acceptable/tolerable.

Governmental leaders of foreign countries supporting one U.S. party or candidate over another, either explicitly or implicitly, is pretty normal. In fact, it’s been celebrated as a positive, mostly by dems who see themselves as more “global citizens”, than the republican who are more nationalists.

The real worry is the corrupting influence of foreign donations, although it’s not really materially different than verbal support, but only a matter of degree. It’s a problem when its secretive because of the worry of quid pro quo.

The internet as a political forum brings different rules and issues. It’s not exactly clear which “political speech” on the internet crosses boundaries of acceptable behavior.

What’s worse, a (supposed) Russian bot scheme to tweet/retweet political speech which is open for individuals to view and decide themselves on its value, or a concerted effort by social media and tech companies to silence political speech that they disagree with? Or patently biased practices and opinions being touted as “fact checking” by biased news media?

1. No. Doesn’t diminish. That slime asking if republicans walking away from the party over a trump dkmiishes his accomplishments. Lol

There is no real movement. Just like Blexit isn’t a real movement.

I have no idea why you think im against a rhetorical argument.

Courage: Classic. You have the presidency. The house. The senate. And still you play victim. It’s masterful. Great politics. Seriously.

It doeanr take any courage.

I’m sure there are Dems that have left the party. Just as there are Republicans that have done so as well. It ain’t like we don’t have a large group of self identified independents.

Here is my advice. Stop giving it. Political movement. Lol. Several hundred. That isn’t a movement. That ain’t even a worthless Green movement.
