Last question. How did you pay for everything? Prepaid cc? I heard identity theft is an issue there.

Depended on the place. Some AirBnBs we were able to pay for up front, others we were required to pay on site, and some we had to pay a deposit up front and pay the balance on site.
Same with the wine tours. A couple were prepaid, most were pay on site.
But we had no issues.

Credit cards work just fine in Italy. Haven’t had any fraud problems despite repeat trips, nor have I heard of any extraordinary level of identity theft from full time residents who use their CCs just as much as anyone else. Of course, common sense precautions are always a good idea...Bank ATMs rather than off brand ones, etc.
