Totally ignoring the aspect of whether or not we want to remove umpires from calling balls and strikes, I don't understand how it is hard for people to grasp how feasible it is to have a computer perform this task.

Nope
You're really downplaying the art of baseball.
I hate snob umps as much as anyone but a computer calling strikes is total nonsense.
Sport isn't a precise definable in all circumstances algorithm.
It's a living breathing thing.
The strike zone isn't plastic.
Really haven't thought this through or think the strike zone is as mundane as callio a fault in tennis ala Cyclops.
