You do realize how different the game was back then for passers, right?

I am not saying Elway is a GOAT candidate, but he carried his teams to the Super Bowl with limited talent on the offensive side of the ball until later in his career.

That all said, as a passer, he wasn't the most accurate or prolific, but when you basically eliminate bump and run coverage, you can surely expect TD pass #'s to skyrocket, which they did.
