Rheem water heater code 11

I've had my tankless water heater for about 5 years now, and has never had a problem. In the past 2 weeks, its beeped at me and the remote thermostat shows a code of 11 when i turn the hot water on.
I can turn it off and leave off for a while 30 minutes or so, then turn it back on and it'll work for a day or so. I've problem done this 4 or 5 times in 2 weeks.
Rheem says code 11 is ignition or lack of gas. i think my gas pressure to the house is fine since i can crank all burners along with the fireplace at full steam and all work fine.
the only plumber fella i called wanted to come out and flush the system for $150, which honestly doesnt sound like its going to solve the issue (even though it might need to be done anyway)
thoughts on steps to check? open it up and check the pilot/electrode?

thats a lot of suggestions. i was hoping it would say something like "tap on the top of the until 3 times to correct issue"
thanks

Could be a failed hose/gasket causing air bubbles.

I would get a professional plumber out if it's gas issue, that can get dangerous to work on.

It worked fine all day yesterday and this morning. but I found a ground wire that was extremely loose...so maybe that makes a difference.
And i didn't know it, but my BIL works on tankless heaters at his hospital job all day. So either way,
