Not sure why you’re getting the okra-roux hate! I use this method for my “green gumbo”, or gumbo z’herbes, and no one believes that there isn’t a roux in that gumbo. Its a delicious and effective alternative to a traditional roux.

I pay no mind. I know how good the gumbo my MIL makes is, roux or not.
