I was disappointed in our return game especially on punts.... you can’t tell me LSU doesn’t have ANYONE else who is faster and can beat out Giles.... dude looks like he is running in sand...

They put Kirklin back there and he fumbled.

Returning punts is not easy, so I think (unfortunately) they are going with the guy they at least trust to catch the ball and essentially conceding a minimal return. But that doesn't excuse a guy catching the ball with little field awareness.

Honestly, I feel bad for Giles. You can tell he's pressing and really wants to make a play. That's clouding his judgement. Fielding punts when he shouldn't. Calling fair catches on returnable punts.
His value is as a slot possession WR. He's not a game breaker in this offense (BTW Where the hell is Chase?!).

I guess the question is who do you put back there? Do you increase the risk of a turnover in exchange for the potential reward of a good return? Or do you just accept the punt return game will be non existent but at least it (shouldn't) kill you (provided you are fielding punts inside the 10)
