I took my father-in-law and nephew and met a friend (ole miss fan) up there. My father who didn’t care about the game wanted to leave at halftime.

Then he shouldn't have gone, much less start being a bitch about being there.

I turned off my phone knowing he couldn’t walk back up the steps and basically hide from him till the game was over. Got home around 3am which worried my mother in-law so she was pissed.

You shouldn't have turned off the phone nor should you have hidden from him. Both of those were childish.

If he wants to leave so badly you can let him know that you would be alright if he were to call someone to come pick him up (you could even have offered to call an Uber for him).

Why was the mother-in-law worried? Did your father-in-law not call her? That sounds like it's more his issue than yours.

Uber back to Mississippi? I did offer my keys but he didn’t know where the car was. Childish yes probably but by that point I was fed up. He’s a know it all and I constantly google everything he says. I can promise if the roles were reversed and we were on his boat somewhere, it will be dark before we come back. Hence I rarely go out if I want to be back at a specific time.
