JR Smith will be fined every game this year for having a “Supreme” tattoo on his leg

I find this extremely interesting
Posted on 9/29/18 at 3:01 pm to wildtigercat93
How is this possible? Is there some significance to "Supreme"?

I got to see this rule and how all the other tattoos aren't affected.

The moment I discovered "Supreme" is the very moment I realized I was getting old.
They're selling a literal brick in their NYC store for like $150 because it has their logo on it.
ETA: picture posted below. Turns out they originally retailed for like 30 bucks (again - it's a fricking BRICK) and now they're going for around $1,000 on eBay. People are stupid.

Umm, why? He’s got like 50 others that don’t count?

They probably consider it an ad, which conflicts with the paid for on jersey ads.

Maybe he just really likes Taco Bell.

The rule isn't about tattoos; it is about advertising space.

Supreme is a clothing brand so I guess they view it as an ad
Now that it’s public I bet the nba will back down

Supreme is basically Yeti on steroids

I doubt there is an amount of money I could ever have in my bank account to where I’d buy an ugly tee shirt I’d never wear that also costs one thousand and five hundred dollars

Interesting. Kyle Kuzma has a "Ford" tattoo.
John Wall has a Mario one but not sure it shows on his ankle
Mario Chalmers also with a Mario as well.

I'd be surprised if they did although I wonder what the exceptions are. A player with a swoosh or Jumpman tattoo wouldn't be crazy and there's no guarantee those will always be sponsors.

I'm just wondering how they took notice of this.
Eta: I guess possibly in a warm up game.

JR put it on Instagram when he got it like a sponsored ad because JR is JR. Plus it's his entire calf so it's really obvious.

This. If his other legs says 'Taco' or 'Burrito', I'd give him a pass.
