This. Gorsuch didn't tip the balance. Kavanaugh replacing the "swing vote" of Kennedy does, turning the court into a reliable 5-4 conservative court.

Plus, there wasn't a mid term election coming up with Gorsuch. This ploy from the Democrats is a two front attack

1. Push the confirmation vote until AFTER the mid-terms in hope that they win back the Senate.

2. Assuming #1 doesn't happen, use this a fodder to bash Republicans in campaigning for the mid terms.

Objectively, I don't know if #2 accomplishes what they hope it will accomplish. Leftist already hate Republicans and Trump with every fiber of their being. It's not like they can hate them MORE if Kavanaugh is confirmed. This doesn't provide any additional motivation for their voters. Maybe additional fundraising, but not motivation.

However, most rational people see through ridiculousness. At worst, we are talking about a teenager who touched a titty. Because the "charges" are so ridiculous, but covered by the media with such hyperbole projecting that the event in (maybe) '82 is tantamount to rape, it very well may fire up a group of conservative leaning voters who otherwise may have been apathetic. The thought being that leftist have lost their minds and this dog-and-pony show is ridiculous
