I borrowed a friend’s Switch after he beat it and played for like 3-4 hours before putting it down and haven’t picked it up again since.
The constant weapon breaking was something I could not get passed. Minor complaint to some, but it was so annoying to me I just couldn’t play anymore.
I read the new Red Dead has weapons (guns) that will break as well and I’m praying to God it won’t be like the system was in BoTW.

I don't know if it was because I did not read anything about the game at all but that never really crossed my mind.
It was more like...dammit my weapons keep breaking...I need to find better stuff and not waste it on certain enemies at the moment.

Just to be clear. I really enjoyed the hell out of this game. I just took a break and never really wanted to go back even though I invested like 40-50 hours. Same thing happened to me with fallout 4.
