It’s a play offensive minded teams run to pad their QB stats. It serves no purpose to flip the ball to the receiver instead of handing it off. All it does is increase your chance of a fumble.

I posted this yesterday.

Mett’s completion percentage in 2012 was 58.8%.

Mett had three SEC games in a row of 11-25, 12-25, and 11-29 against Florida, South Carolina, and Texas A&M. Mett didn't turn it on until the Alabama game. Burrow is going to improve.

Interesting thought I had never considered. However, I don't remember one fumble ever occurring on a jet sweep at OSU. OSU does have one extremely fast and quick receiver, Paris Campbell, who is very effective on this play. Too bad he can't track long passes, or he would be a real weapon.
