That’s quite the generalization. But even if I conceded the point for the sake of argument, I think you are deluding yourself if you think only those at the absolute top of their game will join. You’re also deluding yourself if you don’t think the LEOs involved will be distracted as hell because they will have no idea who just joined fray. It’s not like “concealed carrying badass” is stamped into people’s foreheads.
