Wanna see the survey that determines if people are "going hungry"?

quote:

“During the past 12 months, because of a lack of money or other resources, was there a time when…

1. You were worried you would run out of food?
2. You were unable to eat healthy and nutritious food?
3. You ate only a few kinds of foods?
4. You had to skip a meal?
5. You ate less than you thought you should?
6. Your household ran out of food?
7. You were hungry but did not eat?
8. You went without eating for a whole day?

I shite you not. LINK

Last year, I beached the shite out of my boat by running up on a sandbar. Had to wait 6 hours until high tide to get off of it.

I missed a meal because of that. MOAWR WELFARE!!!

1. You were worried you would run out of food?
Not really. A certain type of food, yes.

2. You were unable to eat healthy and nutritious food?
Long day at work, didn’t have time to prepare a good meal. Had to eat fast food.

3. You ate only a few kinds of foods?
Mainly because I had an envie.

4. You had to skip a meal?
Yep. Happens sometimes when I’m on call and have to work through lunch.

5. You ate less than you thought you should?
Do this at dinner on occasion because I want to make sure I have enough leftovers to bring to work the next day for lunch.

6. Your household ran out of food?
We were just too lazy one week and waited till everything was gone before making a trip to the grocery store.

7. You were hungry but did not eat?
I do this every day. I have a job.

8. You went without eating for a whole day?
Oh yeah. The fish were biting. Didn’t have time to stop and eat.

I've done that, more than once. We hung the hammocks and kicked back. Depends on the boat.

That said, a lot of poor people are psychologically work-dysfunctional; just can't cut it for various reasons. A lot could work, but don't like to, for various (and immoral) reasons. Regardless, it's best for a booming economy; at least the able and responsible folk have bucks for charity.
