I’ve had 4 labs, 2 black, 2 chocolate. One chocolate developed it and neither parent had it.
Lot of good things to help. Watch the dogs weight, exercise, specifically swimming. Cortisone shots, anti inflammatory drugs, pain killers and more extreme hip replacement.
Get a good vet to diagnose and develop a regimen then follow it.
