re: What was the scariest experience you have ever had?

Walking in the Quarter with another couple, on the way to a wedding reception, passed a bum who was kneeling on the sidewalk yelling at people for not giving him money. We veered around. As we approached the wax museum, I hear a woman scream, turn around, and see the bum. He's got too old ladies, on their way to the reception, walking next to them, crowding them into the street and screaming in their faces. I turned around, walked up to him (they were about 20 feet away) and stopped right in front of him, so the ladies could keep walking. As I walked up, I wasn't sure what I should do, go full offense and attack the guy or what. I ended up stopping him, said "what the frick, their just going to a wedding, leave them alone." we stared at each other for a few seconds, he said "all right" and turned and walked off.

Then I turn around and see my friend (other couple), literally hiding behind his wife. Pussy. I was pissed. Then, turns out cops had been called because the bum went in the reception, slapped the wedding coordinator that asked him to leave, then fought the cops until four of them got him cuffed and into the car.

Wasn't too scared as it happened. Though I did have a scene flash through my head where he pulls a gun and shoots me. But still, I'd want someone to help my wife or mom.

Also had a gun pulled on my in a mugging years ago. Same thing. Not as scary when it actually happened than about 1 minute later when it hits you and the adrenaline dump happens.
