Respect for taking the time to learn this Most men think it is below them to learn this.
I will say that it goes both ways. It's not all on you men. The woman should speak up when she feels that need isn't met. My husband isn't super affectionate...and I am(just like you I'm affection and gifts ). So that right there always causes a struggle. Sometimes I just have to speak up and remind him that a little more affection on his part will go a long way with me and mean a lot to me.
