It’s simply an attempt to lump all non-white people, whether or not they have anything else in common.

It is not beneficial to anyone, even the so called POC.

A inner-city Black woman, has nothing in common with a Japanese man, who has nothing in common with an Indian woman, etc.

It’s an effort to expand a voting block beyond just blacks.

It’s Orwellian wordsmithing and nothing more.

This post is pretty hilarious in the context of history. These distinctions were pushed forward by white folks in an age where "whiteness" directly granted you higher status and in some cases different rights under the law relative to others.
But carry on thinking this is some newfangled construction "wordsmithing."

P.S. posts like these are why people stereotype Trump supporters.
Pick up a fricking book people.

It's an obvious ploy to overcome the political power of white identity. It's a two pronged strategy. 1. denigrating and shaming any connection to a white identity and 2. Forming a coalition of brown people, reinforcing their non-white identity while 1. denigrating and shaming any connection to a white identity and 2. Just because it was done in a racist manner long ago, doesn’t make it right today.

Many people, including myself, are happy to have a colorblind society, but apparently people like yourself have grown accustomed to the special treatment.

I'd like to know what book gives evidence that all white people have always had some sort of privilege or high status.

Huge swaths of white americans have lived in deep poverty at the bottom rungs of society. Ever been to Appalachia or some steel towns?

Hell, most southern whites pre civil war lived in abject poverty with not much more material well-being than slaves.

You completely missed the point of what I said. The OP contends that a construct invented and perpetuated by white people in america for centuries is in fact just a recent political maneuver by liberals. If you can't see the idiocy of the OP's post you are just blind.

We are all people of color. White is a color. Manilla is a color. Beige is a cold. Brown is a color.
The term "People of color" is being misused by the left because they misuse everything, especially aborted baby parts.
Remember, HRC is for abusing aborted baby parts, so when you vote democrat you ARE supporting people who are FOR this nonsense plus a whole lot more disgusting and abusive policies.

Are you denying that certain phrases aren't co-opted over time to mean different things? Does "tea party" ring a bell?

Some black woman tried to label me POC because I'm Sicilian. I told her no thanks, I'm white.

Most "people of color" either lived through it or grew up with stories from their parents and grandparents of their life experiences living as second class citizens. If there is a sensitivity there it is directly related to real experience and history. To suggest this construct is purely in the minds of left wing politicians and minorities requires you to ignore the fact that these distinctions were perpetuated by a very different group of people than the folks in this thread are blaming. Having a sense of fatigue over racial issues in America doesn't mean you get to rewrite history for political expediency.

It's ignorance. No other way to characterize it.
