Which only violates campaign finance law if the payments were made to influence an election, Trump could have simply made the payments to prevent his wife from finding about the women which was the defense John Edwards successfully used when charged with the same thing. As Lanny Davis himself said all we are left with here is what Cohen said vs what Trump said, without any other evidence to differentiate that the payments were specifically for the campaign it is game, set, match, for Trump once again.

not quite... if he failed to report that contribution, that, as well, is a violation of campaign finance laws... this would likely only get him a fine, not an indictment, but still you aren't quite correct with this statement...

this is no doubt part of the reason... but the timing and coordination seem to not jive with just keeping it from Melania... maybe, but it just doesn't look like that was the ONLY reason...

and in comes Pecker.... and unless they absolutely destroyed the stuff in that safe, you'd have to pretty much assume that's in Mueller's hands now, given that Pecker got immunity....
