Righhtttttt. I didn't defend anyone but actions have consequences. She knew saying that word would lead to trouble. I highly doubt you're a minority.

Lead to trouble? She'd already been assaulted when she said it.

I think you missed the point he was trying to tell you TJ. Go back and read it the post you just responded too

He's saying that she had already been attacked prior to saying the word, she wasn't looking for trouble going around calling random black people n******

That's all i'm going to input on this thread - both sides are trash imho

Can speech equal violence?

If it's considered inciteful, or fighting words, yes.

The right to free speech, apparently unlike the right to bear arms, is not absolute. You can be charged with an unlawful act for what you say in public if it leads to a situation where public safety is put at risk.

quote:

There are certain well-defined and narrowly limited classes of speech, the prevention and punishment of which have never been thought to raise any Constitutional problem. These include the lewd and obscene, the profane, the libelous, and the insulting or "fighting" words--those which by their very utterance inflict injury or tend to incite an immediate breach of the peace. It has been well observed that such utterances are no essential part of any exposition of ideas, and are of such slight social value as a step to truth that any benefit that may be derived from them is clearly outweighed by the social interest in order and morality.

Yeah, page 7... I'll pass. That was your initial comment. This has already turned into a freaking novel worth of posts, I'll take my leave of it.

BS. She is. Letting a word slide while getting beat isn't a BLAME.

This is dramatic. She didn’t let it slide while being beat. She has slapped on the back of her head. Then she said the word. Then she got her arse kicked.

Look. I think they all belong in jail on assault charges. They should have laughed at her and mocked her for the word. They also should have kept their hands to themselves. Wish she were able to defend herself physically. But she’s not blameless.

Says the guy who showered us with phrases like:

Ghetto bus
Young black thugs
Black ghetto thug
Black ghetto bus
Black thugs

LOL! He is showing his own racism while saying the old lady should have been smart enough to know what them ghetto bus ridin black thugs would do. Got damn!!! You can’t write this script if you had all week.

And the cherry on top! Dehumanizing them into violent animals like Nile Crocs!! LOL!!

Please....MOAR!!

So speaking a single word is just like physical violence?? How so?

I didn’t assign equality between the 2 offenses. I only said she wasn’t completely blameless for the incident escalating from a slap to the back of the head to a beat down. Wish she would have just gotten off the bus with her mouth shut and reported the incident immediately.

I’m kinda feisty and I have a mean left hook with some kicks to back them up but I’m a,so a woman. I know what’s it’s like to be vulnerable. I know the limits I have to physically defend myself and, while I might want to take on a commuter car full of people, I know to keep my mouth shut and get the hell out of there if I’m attacked or provoked.

She kinda is though. Saying a word out of anger after being psychically assaulted doesn't then give the perpetrators of the assault the right to further assault you.
