Saying E is progressive and modern because he was progressive and modern 25 years ago when he was like 32 makes no sense.
I included that from the article but the main thing that I was replying to was that LSU had no one to develop QB's. Zeier was developed by Slinger and was a hell of a QB in the SEC. Regardless of when it happened.

Cause it ain’t the Spread Option.
My #1 complaint with pro style offenses is that they ask too much of college QBs and given the turnover in college, by the time you have a QB who can run the offense he’s a senior and leaving.
What I liked About these spread offenses is how fast QBs pick them up, and how even mediocre QBs, guys who won’t even get drafted, looks amazing in them.
Also E hasn’t developed a good QB since Zeier
