I don’t get it. My 68yr old mother had heart surgery 12 hours ago. It’s after 11pm and the 20-something yr old night nurses are cackling like witches at the nurses station, some lady wanted to empty the trash twice in the last hour, another lady opened the door like Kramer from Sienfeld, and I swear to God, just to see if he board had dry erase markers. And last but not least, they have slammed the closet door with the sheets in the hallway at least 10 times. I walked up to the group and asked politely to remember that it’s almost midnight to most of the patients and all of them need their rest. They just looked at me. My mom has been in and out of hospitals for about 5 years now and it’s like this at every one of them. You get decent nurses from time to time but for the most part this industry has some shitty people that are responsible for the aftercare of major surgeries. /rsnt

You'd think you'd be a little more happy and thankful to the staff that just saved your mother's life and allowed her a chance to live, but hey, go ahead and think about the negatives rather than counting your blessings.

Actually, her cardiologist and his/her team saved her life. The floor nurses are there to make sure she’s comfortable and healing properly.

I’ve been at Children’s with my 3-1/2 month old since Monday. He had surgery Tuesday morning. The surgeon was excellent. However, the 3rd floor nurses have to be the B team. This is our 2nd round here. He spent the first 2 weeks of his life in the NICU. That staff was what all nursing staffs should aspire to be.
