Getting back into perch/bream fishing Saline/Larto. Start a discussion board for seasoned fishermen as well as novice ones. Interest in homemade maps and opinions for making one. So, anyone wanting to discuss the finer points of everything about Saline Larto might enjoy the discussion. No misguiding others w foolishness that serious Fisher persons might find stupid. Let’s have a interesting board.

Sorry I’m not telling you the secret spots
Seriously though the LWDF used to have WMA maps we used back when I fished the area. October-January usually the best time of year with the exception of the spawn. It’s a diverse complex so one area may produce while another area doesn’t. I miss fishing there regularly.

Missed it too, livin in Slidell ten yrs. got all the topos, wlf and old 1950’s map. Looking for something more detailed of any part of saline larto like a hand drawn personal map I can compile into something more useful other than the bayous.
Take youre advice on winter fishing for specs, Thanks for the post.

I've never seen or heard of a hand drawn map of Larto or anywhere else.

I just got a camp at Larto and have found a few areas holding bass but my kids like to set jug lines for catfish more than anything right now so thats fine with me. Come Spring i'll target the bass hard. I watched a guy drop his power pole Saturday morning in about 2 foot of water and cast to the edge of the dock in front of us that had a drop off and catch 9 bass in about 20 minutes on a Poche rig. every one was 1.5-2lbs.

Thanks for the maps. Gives us something to build on. Especially like the deep water crappie spots. I’m sure there are more maps out there somewhere.
There should be a way to post a map and have others add things to it? Would make fishing better for us all. Wouldn’t necessarily have to be someone’s favorite honey hole, just landmarks and such.

Going to Larto tomorrow to check out the lots. We heard they where dropping prices. Would like to visit you if possible. Got a trailer that needs a home. We purchased a tri-tune for our camp in south Louisiana but sold the camp to fish closer to home. Looking forward to meeting good folks at Larto.

Big bump from a year ago. Thinking of taking my boy to Larto on Saturday, any reports. Probably take a bunch of crickets if we cant get a bass to bite.

Did you get many fish on the road runners? I couldn’t catch on anything but shiners

Used to fish there a lot, primarily for white perch. It was kinda crazy figuring out what they would bite on any given day.Used tube jigs mostly some days shiners, occasionally had to lip hook shiner on jig.Had other days they would only bite beetle spins.I found it incredible how many white perch came out of there, according to state there is only 8,000 acres water at normal pool stage.
Too many fish hogs though, hear lot of guys bragging about catching 100+ perch.Me and friend fell out over that,he kept 140 one day,we got in heated argument.I used clicker and didn’t keep over limit of 50 which I feel is too many actually but that was limit and I would keep them if I caught that many.
One thing that has puzzled me for years is that my #1 color when I first started fishing there was red and white tube jig,After few years couldn’t buy a bite on red and white.
I really miss fishing there but life changes.

I’ll say this. I have 5 camps around me at Larto and these guys are retired and been there for a month Now. They have pulled out 100 a day almost every day over that time period. Not sure how the lake sustains it but it does. Also not sure why anyone needs that many fish but to each their own.

Ignorant assholes,in my opinion, which is what I called my ex-friend.
I just have no patience with fish and game hogs.People would do same thing with bass.,When water was dropping bass would congregate on the run outs or points and you could catch bass until you were wore out. Some guys would keep them all.
What I did with perch,if I caught limit pretty fast I would fish for something else.
