This.. I’m about to pull the trigger on a youth .308 for my boy whom is 9 and not heavy set. Plan is to let him use reduced recoil rounds till he gets comfortable. Can’t beat a .30cal imo.

I got my son a savage axis .308 when he was 11 and never worried about reduced recoil or anything like that. They just really don’t kick that hard.
