More of what I enjoy doing is in the NW compared to San Diego.
I hate the rain too but there's something about the NW that keeps me here.

I've applied to a few dozen jobs out there and never heard back from any of them. There's no jobs in Louisiana, so if I have to go out of state, I might as well go some place nice.
